Grassland Bushman Lodge uses the San community from the Rooibrak Village for staff requirements when there are confirmed bookings. There are about 50 – 60 San people living in the village and when there are bookings they
are approached to see who would like to work at the lodge. It is completely up to them who and how many would like to
The Bushman are paid accordingly from Grassland Bushman Lodge, and also receive tips from guests – this money is used to support their children for schooling, food and necessities. The San Bushman do not have any other form
of work, and therefore do not have any source of income other than minimal funding from the Government. The little bit extra they earn from Grassland Bushman Lodge goes a long way in supporting them.
Please note that this is in no way to be seen as a charity and is purely a support project – however, should guests wish to contribute any items of food or clothing for the Bushmen during their visit it would be very much appreciated.”
