GRASSLANDS BUSHMAN LODGE
“The most comprehensive San (Bushman) experience in Southern Africa ”
Our lodge is somewhat different from most others you will encounter in Botswana. We are a family concern and proud citizens of Botswana. Apart from the family the rest of our staff complement is made up entirely of San (Bushmen), most have worked alongside our family for generations. In fact our family has lived in the western region of the Ghanzi district for over 120 years.
LOCATION: on the western boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, on private land.
THE FOCUS: is on the Kalahari, the San people who live there, and the abundant life of the desert.
ACCESS: via private airstrip, 50 minutes from Maun or by 4x4 vehicle.
CATEGORY OF SAFARI EXPERIENCE: intensive Kalahari experience, encompassing San clan activities (hunting, gathering, games and ritual), game drives both off-road and at night, our predator conservation project, and horse-riding.
ACCOMMODATION: 16 guests in 8 en suite chalets, with a small lounge area.
ACTIVITIES:
- The most comprehensive San ‘Bushman’ experience in southern Africa
- Day and night drives with guide and tracker
- Predator interaction including walking with semi-habituated Cape hunting dogs (African wild dogs)
- Swimming pool at the main complex
CHILDREN: are welcome, we have a family unit. Private vehicle must be booked at an additional cost.
