Happy Independence Day Botswana! Today Botswana is celebrating its 47th Independence Day. We wish all a wonderful holiday today. To anyone in Maun there will be free donkey rides around the airport as part of the celebrations.
Camp Linyanti has just taken delivery of their brand, spanking new 6m Swamp Cruiser. This impressive boat, fully kitted out for guests’ comfort, has two engines – a powerful 4-stroke outboard motor, and a quiet electric motor for moving silently through the fringes of the Linyanti lagoon and waterways, viewing birds and wildlife. This is a significant addition to the
activities on offer at Camp Linyanti, and a further justification for using this superbly situated, small and intimate camp in a remote and rewarding area of Botswana.
Grassland Bushman Lodge enjoyed 2mm of rain on Monday! In the Kalahari every drop counts!
It is very hot and dry at the moment, and there is a REAL danger of dehydration. It is of the utmost
importance that you drink sufficient water (in addition to whatever else you drink). It is not enough to THINK you are getting enough fluids – it is not what goes in that counts, it’s what comes out. If you are not urinating every couple of hours at the most, you are not getting enough water and you WILL, on day
three, get a headache, nausea, perhaps a high temperature, and feel dreadful. At this stage the body has lost its ability to absorb fluids and it is very difficult to rehydrate. Simply drinking more to ‘catch up’ does not work. At this stage you will urinate regularly not because you have enough fluids but because it is passing straight through you without being absorbed.
Please take this seriously, for your own sake and ours.
We look forward to seeing you in our camps.
"Delta camp stole our heart for its close-to-nature approach and the possibility to do walking."
"Deception valley lodge was the welcome change of surrounding and made us immediately feel at home because of the sympathic and honnest spirit of the manager and his staff."
"Oddballs' Camp - As with all our guests I have them fill out an Accommodation evaluation at the end of the tour, marked out of 5 to give us all feedback. Here is yours, so we will definitely be sending more people your way in future. Thanks for looking after our mutual guest. He was there on the 31stAug & 1st Sept and absolutely raved about the place. They really looked after him and he loved every minute! Please send this on to Oddballs and the flight people for us too. Everything went like clockwork for him. - Top Notch Experience"
I would like to give you some feedback of our stay at Oddballs recently.
We had a wonderful time while we were there. The staff we very friendly, helpful, and very knowledgable of the flora and fauna of the area.
Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff; Pony the manager of the camp, our guides, Tshaba and Vee. They were so helpful in getting us settled and oriented in the camp.
The guides were great all throughout our stay and no request was too much effort for them. The little and big things they did for us and our children helped make our holiday an exceptional one. We were
very impressed with the food that was served each day and the level of service and efficiency of the wait and kitchen staff was certainly world class.
All in all, we had a great stay and have already recommended Oddballs to friends and family and will continue to do so in the future.
Last but certainly not least, thank you also to Ethel for conducting all the arrangements on our
behalf. Her role was certainly an important one and one that was carried out with great professionalism, and efficiency.
I hope that we are able to visit the magical Delta again in the very near future, and hopefully see every
Thank you once again.
